Getting Started with Hangar Direct
Hangar Direct is the marketplace where aircraft owners find hangar space and hangar operators manage their facilities. This guide covers creating your account, finding your way around, and next steps for both renters and owners.
Create and verify your account
Sign up with your email address and verify it. A verified email is required before you can send inquiries to operators. Your account home is your dashboard; click Dashboard in the sidebar to reach it at any time.
Your account sidebar
Your account sidebar (on mobile, the hamburger drawer titled Account) is organized into groups:
- FACILITIES: one row per facility where you rent, labeled with the airport code and facility name.
- ACTIVITY: Messages (with an unread badge), Leases, and Inquiries.
- PAYMENTS: Payment Methods and Payment History.
- PERSONAL: Profile & Password, My Aircraft, Favorites, Hangar Alerts, and Notifications.
Your dashboard shows a "Welcome back" heading and an "Action needed" card that gathers anything waiting on you: overdue payments, unsigned leases, documents needing attention, waitlist updates, and unread messages, each with a direct link to the fix.
Looking for a hangar?
Click Find a Hangar in the header, search by airport or city, and send an inquiry from any listing with Send Inquiry. There is no instant booking. The operator reviews your inquiry, and approved inquiries become leases you sign and pay on the site. Pilots pay no Hangar Direct service fees.
Own hangar space? Manage it on the platform
Hangar owners, FBOs, and airports use the Hangar Direct operator platform, a separate app for managing locations, hangars, leads, leases, tenants, and payouts. Click Manage My Hangars in your account sidebar to open it, register your organization, and add your first location and hangar. Listing on the marketplace is free and unlimited on every plan.
Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to use Hangar Direct as a pilot? No. Pilots and tenants pay no Hangar Direct service fees. Payment processing fees, when the operator passes them through, are disclosed per payment method at payment time.
Can I book a hangar instantly? No. Every rental starts as an inquiry to the operator; approved inquiries become leases you review, sign, and pay online.
What if a facility is full? Join its waitlist from the facility's public airport page. You will see your position in line and can respond when the operator reaches out about an opening.
