How to Find a Hangar and Send an Inquiry
Hangar Direct connects aircraft owners with hangar space across the country. Finding space works like this: search for hangars near your airport, send an inquiry to the operator, and once the operator approves, sign a lease and set up payment, all in one place.
There is no instant booking or reservation calendar. Every rental starts as a conversation between you and the operator, which gives both sides a chance to agree on terms.
Search for hangar space
Click Find a Hangar in the site header, or browse the state and city pages under Find Hangars. You can search by airport name, airport identifier, or city. Results appear as a list alongside a Google map showing where each facility is located.
If you have added your aircraft under My Aircraft, search results check your saved wingspan, length, and height against each hangar's door width, door height, and depth, which narrows results to spaces your aircraft fits.
What you will see on a listing
Each listing page shows photos, hangar dimensions (including door width and height), amenities, and a map of the facility. Review the dimensions carefully against your aircraft. The door opening is usually a tighter constraint than the floor space.
When you are ready, the primary button on the listing is Send Inquiry. For hangars listed for sale, the button is Inquire Now. You will need to be signed in to send an inquiry.
Send an inquiry in three steps
Clicking Send Inquiry opens a short wizard:
- Which aircraft needs hangar space? Pick an aircraft from your fleet, or add one on the spot.
- When do you need the space? Choose specific dates or an ongoing arrangement.
- Anything else that would be helpful to know? Add context for the operator, then click Send Inquiry.
A verified email address is required before your inquiry goes out, so confirm your email if you have not already.
Track your inquiries
Every inquiry you send lands under Inquiries in your account sidebar, with tabs for All, Pending, Approved, and Closed. Operators can also message you directly. Watch Messages for their questions and replies.
From approved inquiry to signed lease
When an operator approves your inquiry, it becomes a lease under Leases in your sidebar. The lease detail page walks you through activation step by step: Review & Sign Lease (or Review & Accept when no signature is required), upload any compliance documents the facility requires, then Complete Payment, with a Set up Autopay option for future payments.
What it costs you
Pilots and tenants pay no Hangar Direct service fees. You pay the rent you agree to with the operator. Depending on how the operator has configured payments, payment processing fees may be passed through and are disclosed per payment method at payment time (ACH: 0.8% capped at $5; card: 2.9% + $0.30).
Joining the waitlist when a facility is full
If a facility is full, look for "Join the waitlist" on its public airport page. You can join with your email address, verified by a one-time code, without creating an account upfront. Once on the list, you can see your position in line and respond when the operator lets you know a hangar may be opening up.
