How to Find and Book a Hangar
Finding and booking hangar space on Hangar Direct works much like booking on platforms such as VRBO or Turo. Search, compare, and reserve the right hangar for your aircraft in just a few steps.
1 - Search and Filter
Start by entering an airport name, identifier, or city on the search page. From there, narrow your results with filters:
- Aircraft size: Filter by your saved aircraft profiles to find hangars that fit your specific plane. Add your aircraft in your My Profile / Planes page for best results. If you are not sure of your exact dimensions, use the Aircraft Footprint Calculator first.
- Lease type: Daily (nightly), monthly, or for sale.
- Price range: Set a minimum and maximum to stay within budget.
- Amenities: Look for climate control, fuel services, maintenance support, security features, or other specific needs.
You can adjust filters at any time to broaden or narrow your options.
2 - Review Listings
Each listing includes photos, dimensions, pricing, location details, amenities, and availability. When evaluating a listing:
- Check the hangar dimensions against your aircraft footprint to confirm it will fit.
- Review the photo gallery for interior and exterior shots. Look for a video walkthrough or 360-degree tour if available.
- Read the full description for any restrictions (operating hours, fueling rules, aircraft type limits).
- Check the calendar to confirm your desired dates are open.
- Check for any ratings or reviews if available.
3 - Book Your Hangar
Once you find the right listing:
- Select your start and end dates.
- Review the listing details and select your preferred dates.
- Review the total amount, including the service fee (15% for nightly bookings, 5% for monthly).
- Enter your payment information or use a saved payment method.
- Review the cancellation policy and any reservation terms.
- For nightly bookings, click Request to Pay to finalize. For monthly bookings, click Request for booking. Note: Monthly bookings are not charged until the hangar owner accepts your request. If the request is not accepted within 7 days, it will be automatically removed.
You will receive a confirmation email with the reservation details and the owner's contact information.
4 - Communicate with the Owner
Good communication leads to a smooth experience:
- Before booking: Use the platform messaging feature to clarify any questions about access, security, insurance requirements, or special needs.
- After booking: Let the owner know your expected arrival time so they can prepare the hangar and coordinate any additional services (fueling, towing, line services).
- During your stay: Report any issues or safety concerns to the owner promptly through the messaging system.
5 - Tips for a Smooth Experience
Verify your aircraft footprint before booking to avoid surprises on arrival.
Read the cancellation policy carefully in case your plans change. Service fees are non-refundable.
Double-check amenities to make sure the hangar meets your specific needs (power for maintenance, door height clearance, fuel access).
Keep your profile and aircraft details current so the booking and check-in process goes smoothly.
