Getting Started as a Pilot

Visit hangardirect.com and click Get Started to create your free account using your email, Google, or Facebook. Once registered, verify your account by entering the code sent to your email on the verification page (check spam if you do not see it). Creating an account gives you access to search, book, set up custom alerts, and manage your hangar reservations.

Adding your aircraft details helps hangar owners assess fit and speeds up the booking process. In your profile, include:

• Make, model, and year of your aircraft.
• Tail number and registration for identification.
• Wingspan, length, and height so listings can be filtered to hangars that actually fit your plane.

If you are not sure of your exact dimensions, use the Aircraft Footprint Calculator to get an estimate. Accurate dimensions prevent surprises on arrival.

Use the search page to find hangars by location, aircraft size, and lease duration (daily/nightly, monthly, or for sale). Each listing includes photos, dimensions, pricing, amenities, and availability. When you find a match:

1. Select your dates.
2. Review the total, including the service fee (15% for nightly, 5% for monthly bookings).
3. Enter payment information or use a saved method.
4. For nightly bookings, click Request to Pay to confirm. For monthly bookings, click Request for booking. Monthly bookings are not charged until the hangar owner accepts your request.

You will receive an email with the reservation details and the owner's contact information. Before booking, use the messaging feature to ask the owner any questions about access, security, insurance requirements, or special accommodations.

Hangar Direct requires aircraft owners to provide proof of insurance upon request. You can upload your insurance certificate directly to your profile so it is ready when needed. The platform uses OCR technology to automatically extract key details like policy numbers, coverage types, and expiration dates from uploaded documents.

Recommended coverage includes:

• Liability insurance with limits that cover potential damages or injuries.
• Hull insurance to cover physical damage to your aircraft.

Keep your documents current. The platform will show clear status indicators (valid, expiring soon, or expired) so you always know where you stand. For personalized insurance advice, consult with an aviation insurance professional.

Once you have an active booking or lease, you can manage everything from your account dashboard:

• View all active, past, and pending reservations in one place.
• Update your aircraft information or contact details as needed.
• Upload or renew insurance documents and compliance paperwork.
• Communicate with hangar owners through built-in messaging.
• Check your lease status and respond to any action items flagged by the system.

Hangar space can be competitive, especially at popular airports. Set up custom alerts to get notified immediately when a new hangar matching your criteria is listed. You can filter alerts by location, aircraft, rental term (daily or monthly), and search distance. This is the fastest way to find space in high-demand areas.

Maintain valid insurance coverage, provide accurate aircraft information, and communicate clearly with hangar owners about your needs and any special requirements.
