Managing Leases on Hangar Direct
Hangar Direct supports the full range of lease types you manage: short-term transient stays, long-term monthly agreements, ground leases, and everything in between. This guide covers how the platform helps you track, renew, and report on leases across your entire operation.
1 - Lease Types Supported
The platform handles multiple lease structures in one system:
- Short-term (transient/nightly): For overnight or multi-day stays. These are booked and paid through the marketplace with automated confirmation and check-in/check-out tracking.
- Long-term (monthly): For ongoing tenants with monthly agreements. The system tracks lease terms, renewal dates, and payment status.
- Ground leases: For tenants who own or build on leased land. The system tracks lease terms and compliance independently of hangar structure ownership.
- Multi-hangar leases: For operations like flight schools that occupy multiple hangars under a single agreement.
Both aviation and non-aviation leases are supported, with appropriate compliance tracking for each type.
2 - Lease Tracking and Renewals
Every lease in the system is monitored for key dates and milestones:
- Expiration alerts: The system flags leases approaching their end date so you can initiate renewal conversations early.
- Renewal tracking: When a lease is renewed or modified, the system updates the record and recalculates remaining term automatically.
- Termination handling: When a tenant vacates, the system updates the hangar status, clears compliance records for that tenant, and can notify the next person on the waitlist.
3 - Payment Tracking
Track all lease payments in one centralized location:
- Record payments by method (check, electronic transfer, credit card, etc.).
- See at a glance which tenants have paid and which are overdue.
- View payment history by tenant, hangar, or time period.
- Generate financial reports for internal accounting or board presentations.
For transient bookings through the marketplace, payments are processed automatically through Stripe. For long-term leases, you can track payments made through any method.
4 - Lease Reporting
The platform provides reporting capabilities designed for the audiences you report to:
- Vacancy reports: See which hangars are empty, how long they have been vacant, and the revenue impact.
- Expiring lease reports: View all leases expiring within a given timeframe to plan ahead.
- Financial summaries: Revenue breakdowns by lease type, location, and time period.
- One-click exports: Generate reports in formats suitable for board meetings, FAA compliance reviews, or internal audits.
