Organization View vs Location View
The operator platform works at two levels: your organization (everything you manage, across every facility) and each individual location (one airport or site). This article explains what lives at each level and how to switch between them.
The hierarchy in one sentence
Hangar Direct is organized as Organization → Location(s) → Hangars/Tie-downs → Leases/Waitlist. Your organization is the business. Each location is a physical site under it. Hangars and tie-downs belong to a location, and leases and the waitlist attach to those spaces. Day-to-day operations happen at the location level, while the organization level rolls everything up.
The context switcher
There is one switcher, at the top of the sidebar. It shows your org logo and business name, with a second line showing your current scope: in organization view it reads All locations; in location view it shows an airport-code chip (for example, KTOU) plus the facility name.
Click the switcher to open the Organizations card, listing every organization you belong to (with View all if you have several). Hover over or click an organization that has locations to open a Locations card. Each row shows the airport chip, name, and address, with a check mark on the one you are currently in. Click the organization itself to work in org view, or click a location to go to that location's dashboard.
What lives at the organization level
Organization view is your roll-up across every facility. The org-level sidebar contains: Dashboard, Locations, Hangars, Leads, Leases, Waitlist, Tenants, Chat Overview, Payments, Wallet, Payouts, and Footprint Calculator.
These pages aggregate across locations. For example, org Payments adds an all-locations dropdown, and Chat Overview collects every conversation with response-rate stats. Use org view when you want the whole-business picture.
What lives at the location level
Location view is where you run one facility. The location-level sidebar contains: Dashboard, Hangars, Sitemap, Leads, Leases, Schedule, Waitlist, Payments, Wallet, Payouts, Messenger, Compliance, Tenants, and Footprint Calculator.
Some items only apply per site: the Sitemap, the Schedule calendar, and Compliance all live here. Locked premium items show a padlock with the message "{Title} is a premium feature. Please upgrade your plan to access it."
Adding a location: operating vs standalone
From org view, open Locations and click Add New Location. You will choose between two location types:
- At one airport or field: an operating location. You outline the site boundary on a map (one per airport) and fill in Physical Address, Facility Name, State, Zip, and Airport Identifier. This is the right choice for a facility at an airfield.
- At their own separate addresses: a standalone location, with no map boundary. Fields are Location Name, State, and an optional Zip. This suits scattered or off-airport property portfolios.
Individual-type organizations are standalone-only. Note that standalone locations do not have a Sitemap view.
Team access follows the same two scopes
Settings has a Team & Access page at both levels, under Organization · All locations and under Location · {facility}. Org-scope roles see everything across the organization; location-scope roles are limited to that one facility. Use Invite New User at whichever scope matches the access the person should have.
