Signing Your Lease
When an operator sends you a lease on Hangar Direct, it lands in your account with a clear checklist: review and sign (or accept), upload any required documents, and complete payment.
This article covers the review and signing step: what the buttons mean, what to do if something doesn't look right, and what happens after you sign.
Finding your lease
There are three ways to get to a lease that's waiting on you:
- The Action needed card on your dashboard lists unsigned leases and leases awaiting acceptance. Click a row to go straight to the lease.
- Open Leases in the sidebar under ACTIVITY to see all of your leases (the My Leases page), with tabs from All through Ended.
- Open the facility's page from the sidebar and use its Lease tab. Leases that need your signature appear under Sign Required, and leases waiting for your acceptance appear under Awaiting Acceptance.
Click the lease to open its detail page, where the activation checklist walks you through each step.
Review & Sign vs. Review & Accept
Depending on how the operator set up the lease, you'll see one of two buttons on the lease detail page:
- Review & Sign Lease: the lease requires an electronic signature. Clicking it opens the Review & Sign Lease Agreement page, where you read the full agreement and sign it electronically.
- Review & Accept: the lease doesn't require a signature. You review the terms and accept them.
Either way, read the full agreement carefully before committing, including the term, rent amount, deposit, and any fees or clauses the operator included.
If something doesn't look right
Don't sign a lease you're not comfortable with. If a date, rate, aircraft, or clause looks wrong, contact the operator before signing:
- Open the facility's page from your sidebar and click the Message button in the header, or
- Go to Messages under ACTIVITY and message the operator directly.
The operator can correct the lease on their end and send it back to you. Because the conversation happens inside Hangar Direct, both of you have a written record of what was discussed.
After you sign: documents and payment
Signing or accepting is step one of the lease's activation checklist. The lease detail page then guides you through the rest:
- Upload compliance documents: anything the operator requires, like proof of insurance. See our compliance guide for the full walkthrough.
- Complete Payment: payment rows show a Pay Now button, and you can turn on autopay for future rent.
Once these steps are done, your lease is fully active. You can always come back to the lease detail page for its Payment History and Compliance tabs.
Keeping track of your leases
The My Leases page, under Leases in the sidebar, shows every lease across every facility, with status tabs and an Export button if you want a CSV copy for your records.
If you're thinking about ending a lease early, review the cancellation policy first. Early termination terms are set in your lease agreement.
