Uploading Your Compliance Documents

Operators on Hangar Direct can require documents from their tenants, most commonly proof of insurance. Your account shows which documents each facility requires, whether any are missing or fall short, and how to fix them.

This article walks through finding your document requirements, uploading files, and handling documents you're asked to accept or sign.

Finding your document requirements

Open the facility's page from the FACILITIES group in your sidebar and click its Compliance tab. You'll see a table of every document the operator requires, with columns for Document Name, Requirement, Organization, Lease, and Status.

Two other places surface the same work:

  • The facility's Overview tab has a Compliance card ("N of M documents need attention") with a View documents link.
  • Your dashboard's Action needed card lists any compliance documents needing attention, each row linking straight to the document.

Click a row to open that document's page.

  • Open your dashboard

Uploading a document

For documents you provide (like an insurance certificate), the document page shows the current status and, if anything is missing or falls short, a gap list with a Fix this button per gap. To upload:

  • Click Fix this on the gap you're addressing (or start a fresh upload).
  • Click Choose file, then drag and drop or click to upload. Accepted formats are PDF, JPG, PNG, or WEBP, max 10MB.
  • Click Save.

Once uploaded, the required values are read off your document automatically and checked against the operator's requirements. Checks run on every upload, and the result appears without waiting.

Documents you accept or sign instead

Not every requirement is an upload. Some documents are provided by the operator, and your job is to respond:

  • Acceptance documents: read the document and click Review & Accept, or Decline if you can't agree to it.
  • Signature documents: click Sign Document to sign electronically.

These appear on the same Compliance tab alongside your upload requirements.

Understanding gap messages

When a document doesn't meet a requirement, you'll see the operator's exact requirement sentence spelling out the gap, for example: "Requires $2,000,000. Your document shows $1,500,000."

The operator sees the same sentence you do. If a gap doesn't make sense or you believe your document actually meets it, message the operator using the Message button on the facility's page. Operators can also accept a shortfall on their end if they choose to.

  • Insurance requirements

Expiring documents

Documents with expiration dates (insurance certificates especially) are re-checked nightly, and you'll see an expiring-soon warning in your account before a document lapses, both on the facility's Compliance tab and on your dashboard's Action needed card.

When you renew, upload the new document the same way: open the document page, Choose file, Save. Keeping your documents current keeps your lease in good standing. See our lease steps guide for how documents fit into activating a new lease.
